Embracing the Spirit Within"

That is what was repeated over and over again on February 23, 2002 when AALU conducted this conference. The women who attended this conference came from all over the Northeastern region including NJ, NY, CT, PA, DE, VA, and Wash. DC area. The conference included 12 workshops, guest speakers, entertainment, networking breakfast and luncheon, arts, books, and crafts.

Mvc-008f1.jpg (41755 bytes)Workshop choices included: Educational Development - Financial Planning for Women, So You Want to Get  Published, Investment Strategies, Freedom to Marry, Knowing Your Legal Rights Personal Development - Homeopathic Health Care, Racism and Homophobia, Embracing Our Spirituality, Bridging the Gap: Coming Out Experiences Relationship Development – Lesbian Parenting, What Does Love Have to Do With It?, That’s Drama: Working Through Conflict, Addressing Abuse: In or Out of a Relationship.

Each speaker was able to share their personal experiences on how we all can envision our goals, enrich our lives with knowledge and empower ourselves. Conference attendees walked away with a feeling of togetherness and inner peace.

Womyn were able to relax and build a bond with each other due to comfortable and nurturing environment that GALA’s (Gay and Lesbian Association) Rutgers University, Newark, New Jersey was able to provide.

AALU looks forward to next year’s conference in where it will be its 6TH and looks forward to a bigger, longer, and greater variety conference.
